I try to look for real photos of the insoles and soles, not only the outside of the shoe. Comfort around the heel and toes is more important than super fancy design. Personally I like a mix of design, comfort and realistic pricing. Reviews that mention long term use are more valuable than comments written on day one. The same is true for metal versus acetate frames for glasses. Recently I have been testing several online eyewear shops to compare frames and lenses.

I try to look for real photos of the insoles and soles, not only the outside of the shoe. Some care only about style, others focus on comfort and durability. Nose pads that are too hard leave marks and feel uncomfortable on the skin. Some charts are very generic and do not match real measurements at all.
